bitterness by the cup

eeeew sadly this week i was rather unlucky to sample an iced latte from Costa.
Bitter, frothy and left a nasty taste. Damn shame.
Dissapointment alleviated by flicking through free copy of T&G mag from hairdressers opposite.

last of the summer cider

how did I only just discover this lovely summer cider?
elderflower and lime as recommended by the bartender at the gypsy moth in Greenwich and sipped by myself and a mate in the late evening summer sun of their beer garden.
I have a sneaking suspicion this may be the last pub garden beverage of the summer, sob.

2 lumps of sugar with Dr Sketchy

Lovely frothy latte mid time refreshment at Dr Sketchy's Burlesque Art Class
on Saturday. Fab day of sketching at the Glee Club.
Coffee was lush but don't entrust anything solid here, but that's another story...

tea with amy

ooh I do love a drinking establishment with comfy chairs that serves a good cuppa from loose tea in a big china pot.
Big 'yey' for The Exchange bar & a perfect pot of refreshment for my catch up with Amy yesterday

comforting chocolate

After the great disappointment of an insipid watery latte at a local cafe yesterday I decided for today's elevenses I shall whip up my own hot choc in my kitchen.
It proved a comforting antidote to all the madness kicking off in the cities at the moment whilst I read the local paper & soothed my milky craving whilst I planned my camping trip for the next couple of days.
Highly recommend the co-op truly irresistible Fairtrade drinking chocolate from which my hot choc was fashioned. It's only got 3 ingredients; sugar, cocoa & salt. Un-messed with, morally sound & v comforting, I felt it kind of suited the mood today.

a warm wellcome

frothy latte,  apple & cinnamon muffin

On a visit to London with my good mate Mrs T we had just 1 agenda, a visit to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition & as many tea stops as necessary (Mrs T is preggers & I just like a cuppa and a sit down at every opportunity)
First stop (I'm not counting the horrendous cuppa on the train with floaty bits in) in London town was the Peyton & Byrne cafe at The wellcome collection on Euston Rd. Big love for this little oasis of culture and curiosity opposite Euston station and even bigger love for the latte and muffin. I definitely won in the 'who chose best' cake and cinnamon over blueberry every time Mrs T. Service was polite and efficient, fellow sippers were a well turned out eclectic mix (I always love it when I receive a compliment from a lone diner and P&B did not disappoint, who says Londoners aren't friendly?)  decor is quirky contemporary chic and the latte rocked. Big whoop all round for P&B. Want to try them all now, next stop- The British Library.
(Oh, only downside is the gallery is closed on a Monday, oops)

wake up & smell the coffee

today 'in my cup'  blog is born.

I don't know why I photograph what's on my plate or in my cup or just what's right in front of me, but I do. I have for quite some time. And I'm not afraid to hide it.
I love to take a little minute out to appreciate the beauty of a perfumed cup of Earl Grey in the afternoon, a hot steamy frothy latte mid morning with a stiff new magazine or an exciting new cocktail, all lipstick kisses around the rim, sipped with friends
So I'm making a  blog of it.
Put the kettle on...
& stir in some sugar with my blog.
